CHILDREN & YOUTH
Sunday School for Children
MUMC recognizes the importance of Sunday School in the faith formation of children and adults. We offer Sunday School for children ages 2 through high school during the 9:00am worship service. Children and youth join their families in the sanctuary through the Children's Moment, which is at approximately 9:15. Afterward the teachers escort the children to the age appropriate classrooms for Sunday School.
The curriculum on Sundays varies by age groups by each class follows a curriculum approved by the United Methodist Church and includes Bible stories, music, crafts etc. Each class is led by at least two adults who have passed the background screening required the the United Methodist Church.
Registration forms are completed for each child attending and copies are kept in the classroom and in the Sunday School office. Children will be brought back to the sanctuary towards the end of the service.

MUMC Children's Center
We are a Christian based preschool offering classes for 2, 3 and PreK 4 year olds, originally founded in 1984 to meet the early childhood needs of the community. As an outreach ministry of MUMC the Children's Center nurtures spiritual growth as well as provides an educational program that helps children develop socially, emotionally, mentally and physically.
MMCC is accredited under the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) and licensed under the Maryland Department of Education Office of Childcare. (License #156258)
Montgomery Methodist Children's Center is located in Damascus near the border of Montgomery and Frederick counties and serves preschoolers from the Damascus, Mt.Airy, New Market, Ijamsville, Urbana, Clarksburg and surrounding areas.
Montgomery Methodist provides a positive educational environment which encourages children to learn and grow emotionally, intellectually and socially at their own pace. Through classroom interactions, our students learn to take turns, share, make new friends and respect the rights of others. We also strive to instill in our students a love of learning that will follow them throughout their lives. Through participation in a variety of learning experiences in a Christian atmosphere and through the use of Bible stories and Christian songs, children are encouraged to develop Christian attitudes and behaviors.
Licensed by the Maryland State Department of Education Office of Child Care, MMCC incorporates a Christian play-based approach using the state approved Creative Curriculum. Our program also participates in the MDEXCELS quality rating program.

Sports Ministry
MUMC hosts a Winter Basketball League for children 4-7 years of age each year from January to March. (Children may not turn 8 prior to the end of the basketball season). There are no practices and games are held each Saturday beginning at 9am. It's a great program that focuses on Christian fellowship, fun, outreach and positivity.

Youth Group
Youth group is now happening on Sundays after church in the Outback, unless otherwise noted. We will be meeting from 10:30 - 12:00 most weeks. Youth group is an awesome opportunity for middle and high school
students to dig deeper in their faith alongside other students their age. It is also
a great opportunity to invite friends to have some fun and fellowship.
