Fearless YG is asking for your help. Look for us collecting donations for Operation Christmas Child. We as a Youth Group have a goal of doing 100 shoe boxes. We don’t want to interfere with what you are doing as a family. However, we’d appreciate both your monetary donations as well as items for our shoe boxes. We are focusing on Boys 10-14 and Boys 2-4. Did you know these two age groups get the least shoe boxes of all? Let’s send a message with a 100 boxes to the boys. Look for us in the Connecting place between services. We’ll have a list of items for these two groups. We’ll have a special surprise for the church on October 22! Get your taste buds ready!!!!

Please Help us with Disaster Relief
Many persons have been asking how they might help in providing relief for the victims of flooding in Texas, Florida, and the Caribean.
This is particularly critical, since our United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) is a place where 100% of your contributions go to help persons in affected areas. NOT ONE PENNY goes to administrative costs. (Your conference apportionments provide all UMCOR’s administrative budget.) One more reason to be pleased to be a United Methodist.
If you would like to give directly to UMCOR, you can do so at their website (umcor.org). You may also give through Montgomery Church. Please designate “Disaster Relief” on the memo line of your check.
Please remember in your prayers those families who have been affected by flood damage and evacuation.
We are also collecting materials to build cleaning buckets and health kits. Items needed for these kits can be placed in the overflow room at Montgomery church through September 17th before being taken to the centralized conference collection site.
Cleaning Kit Items: 5-Gallon bucket with resealable lid, Liquid laundry detergent, Liquid household cleaner (no spray cleaners), Dish soap, 50 Clothespins, Clothesline, 7 Sponges, 24-Roll heavy-duty trash bags, 18 Cleaning wipes, 1 Can air freshener, 1 Insect-repellant spray, 2 Pairs kitchen dishwashing gloves, 1 Pair work gloves, 5 Scouring pads, 1 Scrub brush, 5 Dust masks

Caregiver Support Group
Started in 2008, the group is open to members and non-members of Montgomery UMC.
The group discusses difficulties as well as positive experiences while caring for a loved one who is suffering from Alzheimer’s, cancer or any other illness that renders their loved one incapable of caring for themselves. Each member receives valuable feedback that is helpful to all in attendance. The group also invites outside speakers to come and speak about topics related to caregiving for a loved one.
If you have a family member or friend for whom you are a part-time or full-time caregiver, please plan on joining us. We would love to have you join us whether you want to participate or just listen to the helpful discussions that take place during each meeting!
For more information, please contact the group’s facilitator, Bill Bugg at 301-831-9779 or call the church office at 301-253-4460.
